4 days. 48km. Sun. Wind. Rain. Snow. Frost. Pure bliss. Mind-blowing. Definitely one of the main highlights of this Indian sojourn.  And clearly the most AMAZING trek of this life time! And undeniably one of the most incredible experiences of my life.

Situated at 13,200ft, Gaumukh means “the mouth of the holy cow,” and refers to the original source of the sacred 2,500km Ganges River. It is 18km from Gangotri. Another 6km onward from there, the trail gets much more challenging (especially the last 2km, KICKED my ass!) – where we trekked up to a whole other planet called Tapovan (@14,640ft)! That’s nearly 3,500ft gained over the total 48km/4-day trek. Tapovan translates as “forest of austerities or spiritual practice.” In Tapovan, among many peaks, looms the mighty Mt. Shivling (@ 21,329ft) and Mt. Meru (@21,850ft). This oasis is known as the “Centre of the Universe” – situated in the centre of the complete Himalayan mountain range – rooftop of the world. Hence, a profoundly high vibration in these parts – mind-blowing really, you really must go experience it – words cannot convey. Yet the clips below will give you a slight sense of this most amazing adventure in the high Himalayas of Mother India. Day 2 – base camp one in Bhojbasa, our first morning.

Day 3 – Gaumukh Glacier – the originating source of the sacred Ganges River – where she begins her 2,500km descent across northern India, blessing all she touches along the way.
